Four Truths and a Lie

April 3rd, 2009 | Categories: Life | 7 Comments

I played this game with my friends at the beginning of the school year, back when we were all forced to play various “getting to know you” games during Welcome Week. Five statements are said, but only four of them are truths. The remaining statement is a lie. Here are five statements about me; can you figure out which one is the lie? The lie will be revealed in next Friday’s post!

  • I was once interviewed for a news segment that was broadcast on Iranian television.
  • The one and only time I have vacationed in Singapore, I spent the entire time in my hotel room, positively sick to my stomach since I contracted a virus.
  • I love writing, and I have had some of my works published.
  • My very first pet was a hamster named Chocolate.
  • I staffed the election polls during the 2008 US presidential election.

  1. Olga says:

I’m gonna bet it’s the fourth: You never had a pet hamster.

  2. Alice says:

I’m with Olga, number 4 is the lie. No way would you name something chocolate.

  3. Kaylee says:

These are so hard! They’re always so tricky and I’m so bad at guessing :S But I will guess… 3.

(Truth: I told my little brother to pick a number between 1 and 5; he picked 3.)

  4. Krissy says:

Damn you, Manda… these are hard! I can’t choose! All I keep thinking is “why have I not heard the stories behind any of these before?” XD And you had best tell them when you reveal which is the lie. :P

  5. Rosier says:

I’ll stick with number 1. Don’t ask me why! I wonder which one is the [real ]lie, though. :P

  6. Roanne says:

This is bad. I of all people should know this xD Okay I know 1 and 5 are true. 2 seems to ring a few bells so I’m going to guess that one is true too. I’m pretty sure you had a dog back in Delaware called Peabody or something but not sure he was your first pet. With 3 I’m not sure because I know you love writing but I know you don’t have a book out or anything but you could mean you’ve had your writing in the school paper so…very confusing xD But I think I might go for 4. Also I disagree with Alice, you’d totally name something Chocolate as a kid :P

Oh yes. My thought processes are quite riveting.

  7. [...] week, I posted four truths and a lie about myself, asking readers to guess which one out of the five was the lie. I’m going to explain the [...]
