Mellissa (v.eracio.us)
April 29th, 2009 | Categories: Online | 2 CommentsThese interviews started with the intention of getting to know my online friends better, and exposing a side of them that might not necessarily be apparent online. Each interviewee was asked ten questions, five of which were generic, and five of which directly applied to the specific individual. Interview with Mellissa of v.eracio.us:
- Do your friends and family know you have a blog? If so, do they read it?
Most of them do because of Facebook and such (especially friends I’ve made through the internet), and, yes they do read it! - When did you first start becoming involved in the “internet world”?
I’ve been online on and off since 1998-1999. I’ve only recently picked up blogging again at the beginning of the year. I used to blog previously but it always just kept being very short-term. - What are your favorite places to visit online?
I love Lookbook.nu, Style.com and the Vogue Australia forums – those three have to be my favourite hangouts online. - Do you ever feel like it’s hard to maintain a balance between online and offline life?
I normally like keeping my offline and online life as separate as I can although the two worlds to merge sometimes considering my boyfriend is a pretty famous blogger as well. I do find it easy to balance between the two though as real life normally dominates a majority of my time. - Does your online personality differ from your offline personality? Do you find yourself acting differently in situations online than you would offline?
I’d like to think that I really am the same person online and offline :) - You are a Kuala Lumpur native studying in Melbourne, Australia. Do you miss KL? Why did you choose to study in Melbourne?
Yes, I always miss KL, every single day! I chose to study in Melbourne because it’s still close enough to home to go back a few times a year, and also because I already had a lot of friends studying here. - You have traveled a lot throughout Southeast Asia. What is your favorite place in SE Asia to visit?
Bangkok, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia are definitely my two favourite places. Bangkok is a bustling city with very, very cheap shopping while Bali has the most amazing beaches. - You love all things fashion. Who are some of your favorite designers? Who do you consider to be your style icons?
I particularly admire John Galliano as a designer – his quirkiness and eccentricities make his designs so fabulous! For fashion brands, I do covet Dries van Noten, Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Comme des Garcons. - You are an Political Science and International Studies major. What is it about these fields that appeal to you? What do you hope to do with your degree?
I guess I liked how both of them provided me with international knowledge – something the Malaysian school system is severely lacking! I have no idea what I want to do in the future – all I know is that it’s definitely not politics! - Your blog documents a lot of the times when you and your friends are out on the tow. What do you like about going out? Do you prefer a fun night out, or a relaxed night in?
I like relaxing with friends over a bottle of wine, it doesn’t really matter in or out but house parties are great too, it’s the company that makes it all worth while!
