Alice in Wonderland à la Tim Burton

June 30th, 2009 | Categories: Entertainment | 7 Comments

When I first heard that Tim Burton would be doing a movie based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, words could not express my excitement. They still can’t, really. Burton’s unique take is perfect for the story of Alice and her adventures, and the cast for this film is fantastic. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar, Stephen Fry as the Chesire Cat… I’m also excited to see what newcomer Mia Wasikowska will bring to the role of Alice.

When the first photos of Burton’s vision for the characters and sets were released, I was beside myself with glee over how amazing everything looked. If there is still any doubt as to how this film will turn out, the photos speak for themselves. I’ve never done a picspam1 or anything before, but here goes:

I. AM. SO. EXCITED! Why is 2010 so far away?!

Tim Burton is a mastermind. I absolutely cannot wait for this movie… and I hardly ever take the time to actually go out and see movies, so that’s saying a lot for me. The pictures look very promising in their Tim Burton-ness, of course :)

*happy spaz dance of joy* :D

I’m not going to lie, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter have always creeped me out. However, the backgrounds/sets look fantastic!

You know…if someone had to make a movie of Alice in Wonderland, I am so glad that it’s Tim Burton. That movie looks wicked! I actually didn’t even know anything about this! I’m glad I came out from under my rock and checked out your blog, eh? Haha. I love that you included pictures…wow…I can’t wait to see this!

Doesn’t it look amazing? Tim Burton’s always been so good at creating these absolutely fantastical worlds, and I’m sure this will be no different.

I LOVE Tim Burton! I can’t wait to see this! I had to do a double take when I first saw the Mad Hatter images, Johnny Depp looks so… different!

I am really excited, too. Tim Burton’s films always end up being my favourites, even though I do complain at the unimaginative cast members (Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter – again?). I always look forward to seeing different portrayals of Alice In Wonderland, but this one looks as though it’s going to be even more special than the rest. Can’t wait.
