Coins Not Accepted Here

I absolutely love these English red phone boxes. They’re very iconic and I’ve always had this strange fascination with them. When I went to England in November 2007, it didn’t matter how many red (or black) phone boxes I saw, each time I saw one I let out a squeal of excitement. I can’t remember how I started this mild obsession with English phone boxes, or why they hold such a strange captivation for me. But nevertheless, they do.
What I don’t understand about this particular phone box, though, is how coins are not accepted. If a phone box doesn’t accept coins, what does it take for payment? Bills? Plastic? Checks? Poker chips? I thought all public pay phones accepted coins universally??

lol! Phone cards most likely, I remember phone cards from the pre-mobile boom of my youth XD It could also take debit cards or might even be a phone box they have kept up for heritage reasons as they are significant parts of British culture. A plethora of possible reasons lol
Love the new theme btw, very pretty :D

Phone cards I guess that is weird for a red telephone box not to take cards very odd, there isn’t many of them around now :( Loads in London but down here near the coast there isn’t any in my town.

Man, if people hadn’t mentioned phone cards, I would have been very confused too! Because just taking bills? That would be one expensive phone call! (In Canada anyway, since we have no bills smaller than 5$.)

Phone cards here too! :D Phone boxes were everywhere before everyone started having a mobile, and phone cards were more useful than coins :)
