Boiling Water
October 22nd, 2009 | Categories: School | 2 CommentsPart of my homework for my visual media class this week was to make a Lumiere video, as per the terms in the Lumiere manifesto. My video1 was of a hot water boiler boiling water.
This is the criteria for a Lumiere video:
- 60 seconds max
- Fixed camera
- No audio
- No zoom
- No edit
- No effects
While the Lumiere/realist style isn’t really my thing, I like my video a lot more than I thought I would initially!

Hi, I'm Manda. I'm a college student studying communications and languages. I like to read, shop, bake, and travel. I have a tendency to listen to my favorite songs on repeat for hours on end. Sometimes I catch myself thinking in a language other than English. 
I’m afraid the concept is lost on me. :( I’m sure you did the project right and everything, not questioning that at all… I just don’t get it.
A Lumiere film is meant to show a “slice of life” from a different perspective. It’s not meant to have effects or staged events like a Hollywood-esque film. It’s simply meant to show regular, everyday events in a light that you ordinarily wouldn’t see it in. :)
