You Ask and I’ll Answer: The Answers

October 25th, 2009 | Categories: Life, Question of the Week | 8 Comments

Two weeks ago, I invited those who were interested to ask me any question they liked, with the promise of an honest answer, provided that the question wasn’t asking me my street address or Social Security number. There were some great questions asked, and while these answers are a week late, I hope they still prove to be interesting!

No question of the week this week, but I do have many answered questions to make up for it:

Krissy asked:

  • You’re stranded on a deserted island. Which television character would you want with you?
Hmmm. I’d say either Sarah or Casey from Chuck. They both would know how to get me off the island!
  • If you could live a day in the life of anyone in the world (dead, alive, fictional or not, etc.), whose life would you want to experience?
I’d want to live as Anne Boleyn for a day. I’ve always found her fascinating, and I have also always wanted to know how she felt about all of the events that played out in her life, and whether or not she exerted what control she could over her own fate, considering her situation.
  • Smarties: Do you eat the red ones last?
Nope, the color doesn’t matter to me. (I also don’t remember the last time I had Smarties…)
  • In a game of Truth or Dare, which do you usually choose?
Truth, of course. In a worst case scenario you can always lie, whereas with dare there’s no way out.
  • Growing up, did you have a security blanket, stuffed toy, etc. that you were very attached to? If yes, tell us about it!
Nope! I loved stuffed animals and had a huge collection (think 200+) but there wasn’t one in particular I was super attached to. My favorite was my old raggedy teddy bear, though I never experienced separation anxiety when parted with it.

Clem asked:

  • What is your biggest fear?
Losing my family. I am a very independent person, but I also know that my family is really all I have, especially since I moved around so much growing up. Most people have both a family and a home to fall back on; I just have a family.
  • Do you use a feed reader, or do you read blogs manually? If you use a feed reader, how many blogs are you subscribed to?
I use Google Reader as a feed reader. Currently I am subscribed to 59 blogs.
  • If you won a $5000 shopping spree at any one store, which would you choose?
H&M! Not only is it one of my favorite stores, but they have great clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, and other accessories… I would be in heaven if I could shop to my heart’s delight at H&M!
  • Could you ever stop blogging? What if someone paid you to stop?
I definitely could stop blogging. This is not exactly the best thing for a blogger to admit, but if real life ever got so crazy I no longer had the time for it, I’ve enough sense to know real life comes first over anything online. If someone paid me to stop, I’d probably be able to stop blogging. It’s not the only means I have of expressing myself, you know ;)

Amanda asked:

  • Are you an illegal downloader, and if so, what’s your reasoning behind it to justify it to yourself?
No, I am not an illegal downloader. I used to be, though. However, my reasons for stopping have nothing to do with the whole illegal pirating/stealing argument. I stopped cause I was just too lazy to download copious amounts of music. I have loads of CDs from before I got too poor to buy them, and I’m pretty content with my music collection as it is now.

Alice asked:

  • Two trains go leave the station at 1pm in opposite directions one at 100mph one at 123mph, each are carrying 50 passengers each, one with 60/40 ratio of adults to children, one with a 70/30. Do you like seafood? why?/why not?
I love seafood! I used to hate it when I was younger, but I’ve really developed a taste for it. My favorite type of fish are tuna and salmon, and I adore scallops. I’m also a huge fan of clams and mussels, and I’m starting to develop a taste for crab and lobster. Still slightly wary of oysters, but I don’t come across them very often.

Morgan asked:

  • Why did your parents give you the name that you have?
The name “Amanda” supposedly means lovable. What parent doesn’t want their child to be lovable? ;)
  • What is your favorite smell?
I absolutely love the smell of clean laundry. It’s one of the best smells in the world!

Alice, I just loved your question. Freak her out with a bit of maths first xD

  2. Clem says:

I love the smell of clean laundry, too. :D

H&M is a good choice. It would definitely be one of my top 5 stores if I had to pick!

I choose Truth, too. The questions are always really boring, anyway. “Who do you like?” “Nobody…” “Who was the last person you liked?” “I don’t remember…” etc. :P

  3. Shiri says:

You love the smell of clean laundry :) I bet that was one of your childhood memory-smells, which brings back good memories.

In a game of truth and dare – yes truth is definately the way to go! Besides, no one truly knows if you are REALLY speaking the truth :)

  4. Krissy says:

How did I know you’d pick Anne Boleyn for your ‘day in the life’ answer. :P I thought wrong on the truth or dare questions though; for some reason I thought you’d pick dare. :P

  5. Morgan says:

Aw, clean laundry is a glorious, wonderful scent. Good answer! Good answer to a lot of these, actually!
