Heidi Montag is a Plastic Freak

I was going to write this entry in a letter format addressed to Heidi Montag but I decided that she probably doesn’t have enough brain cells to comprehend what I want to say to her. I mean, as if she’d even care what I had to say. This is a woman who underwent 10 plastic surgery treatments last November after already having had three procedures a few years ago and she allegedly still won’t rule out future surgeries. Why is she going to listen to/read the rants of a teenager who is so incredibly disturbed about what she’s done to herself in the name of beauty and is worried about the effects it’ll have on girls who sees her as a role model?
There was absolutely nothing wrong about her looks before she had her first round of surgery1 where she had a breast augmentation (boob job), collagen lip injections, and rhinoplasty (nose job). All of these procedures were done for vanity purposes and not for health reasons. The 10 procedures she had done in her latest surgery were a mini eyebrow lift, Botox in the forehead, revised nose job, fat injections in cheeks and lips, chin reduction, neck liposuction, ears pinned back, revised breast augmentation, lipsocution in waist and thighs, and butt augmentation. Let’s remember that Montag is only 23. If this is what she is willing to do to herself at age 23, what on earth is she going to do to maintain her “beauty” and “looks” when she’s 30? 40? What’ll she do when, God forbid, she gets a single wrinkle on her shiny, plastic forehead?
Montag states that her desire to “improve” her look is a result of being bullied as a child for the way she looked. Sure, Montag. Whatever you say. If the words of bullies made becoming a real-life Barbie a life goal for you, so be it. But if you lived for a day in my childhood shoes – or anyone else’s – you’d realize that people learn not to take stock by what bullies say. And if you can’t take the heat, then don’t be in an industry where there’s criticism about how you look because everyone gets scrutinized2. If you feel insecure about how you look and who you are, then take time out of the spotlight and figure out who you are and before trying to make something of it. If you try to become what you feel others think you should be rather than staying true to yourself, you will never gain any respect.
I have nothing against plastic surgery when it’s necessary, such as for health reasons, but for vanity purposes? Get real. In trying so desperately to become something other than the freak she felt like she was singled out as in school, Montag’s image is now the very thing she was trying to escape. Her self-created tragedy is a lesson everyone can learn from: appreciate what you are born with, because that’s what makes you you. Character and individuality is what makes a person stand out. All you need is confidence to rock your own look – not the knife of a plastic surgeon.
- Daily Mail has two photos of Montag, one taken before her first surgery and one of her now. [↩]
- I’m not even going to address my opinions on her lack of talent in any and all areas of work she’s tried her hand in. [↩]

Woah. She’s only a year older than me. It’s very worrisome that people don’t value themselves as who they are, and are willing to absolutely destroy who they are just for the sake of catering what everyone else wants. What is ‘in’ and looks good turns sooo quickly and to think that someone would put themselves in danger just to stay current. It’s disturbing really. Because at the end of the day, if you don’t accept yourself for who you are, why should anyone else?
I don’t really know who she is – I’ve heard her name around before – but she was actually quite pretty pre-surgery. Now she’s ruined herself and looks like a blow-up doll clone. I don’t understand why that’s so appealing.

She’s a reality star from the MTV show The Hills and is one half of the celebrity couple “Speidi” with Spencer Pratt. She’s pretty far off my radar too but coverage of her plastic surgeries – 10+ procedures at age 23! – was pretty widespread yesterday, which prompted me to blog about it. As far as I can tell, she’s famous for being vapid, fame hungry, and incredibly obnoxious and shameless in her and her husband’s quest for everlasting fame. So basically, she’s famous for being “famous.” Like the world needs more of those people…

I find Heidi hilarious, I cannot take anything she does seriously. Watching the Hills it’s fun to point out the points where she has had more plastic surgery. She used to be so pretty, and now, she’s just someone else.

I don’t understand the point.. Sure if she had a hideous nose or something or a giant ugly scar.. But she was a pretty girl already. And she wasn’t far of from being a barbie doll in the first place!

I think she looked way nicer before! She’s scary now. o__o

Heidi Montag reminds me of this artist a few decades ago now, called Orlan. She studied the portraits of women that were considered beautiful in art history, and performed cosmetic surgery on her face — she ended up with her nose modeled after Gerome’s psyche, her chin after Boteccilli’s Venus, and a forehead after da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, amongst other things. And in the end I think it demonstrated that such perfection was not beautiful but rather monstrous. Of course, she was also criticizing what was to come in the future, which Heidi Montag seems to embody to the brim!

I’ve never been able to take Heidi seriously, but I just hope she really is happier now :|

Somehow, I don’t think she will be, although I hope that she finds her plastic surgeries worthwhile too :/ The way I see her (and I could be wrong) is that she’s insecure and unsure of who she is. Until she develops self-confidence and becomes self-assertive, she’s never going to be happy because she won’t ever be comfortable in her own skin. And obviously, plastic surgery isn’t going to give her those skills.

It is so disturbing how different she looks now ><. She looked perfectly fine before all those procedures and now she's going to be the new Cat Woman who had a gazillion plastic surgeries herself.

She looks so pretty in the photo of her before, and after that she just looks like your bog-standard model, and not very good-looking at that. I don’t think I’d understand her mentality if I tried.

She looks absolutely terrible now. I never like her but at least she used to be quite pretty. She is the less annoying one of Speidi, but it really isn’t saying much. I think she loves the attention so much that she would do anything to stay in the business. It is very sad.
