That’s funny. I agree with the Pod/Pad thing, it’s too similar, can see instances of sales staff coming back to the counter with the wrong product.

BRB changing my iPad.

I suppose iPad would sound marginally easier to non-native speakers than iSlate or iTablet. I don’t know, it might even be intentional. Publicity = good publicity no?

Hahaha! Oh man, that name is hideous! I thought it was going to be iSlate, because that would seem to be clearly the most logical (and best) name, but… no. And I don’t usually make comments like this but I’m sure it must have been named by a male… surely any woman would notice the obvious link to sanitary products. :|

It’s a good thing the “iPad” has no appeal to me whatsoever, I guess. I already have a laptop, and I don’t need something that’s basically an inferior version of one!

I like iSlate over iTablet cause “slate” is one syllable and “tablet” is two. iPod, iMac, iPhone… they’re all one syllable, so iSlate would be keeping in consistency with that. Well, so does iPad I guess, but there are a million and one reasons why iPad should NOT have been chosen as the tablet name :P

With all the hype about an Apple tablet during the weeks heading up to the announcment, I’d always imagined it being called an iTablet. But then I guess it’s understandable why they didn’t go with such a literal name — none of their other products follow that trend. I’m with you on iSlate though, or even iCanvas.

I didn't think of that sort of pad when I heard the name iPad, but I still immediately thought a name like iTablet would be much, much better, on the basis that iPad is way too similar to iPod. iSlate would be a cool name, too.

I think the iPad – pad connotation is the number one reason NOT to choose that name. But I also agree that it’s too similar to iPod… Every time I say it, I think of it as someone saying iPod but with an accent :P

I think iTab is a way better name. iSlate/iTablet are good, too.
