I completely agree with your critique, it was a brilliant movie! Wasn’t it shocking that R.D.J didn’t get an oscar nod for his performance?
I’m only half way through but, AGREED! I was really concerned that firstly Guy Ritchie was directing (he’s not done that well since Lock Stock), secondly RDJ as Homes, and thirdly Jude Law, whom I hated.
But boy was that proven wrong RDJ is amazing, and his accent is perfect, you don’t get that many American’s getting the subtleties of an upper class English accent. I also enjoyed Law, don’t hate him any more.
Not too sure about Irene Adler though … but can’t comment until I’ve finished the film.
My only uncertainty regarding the film is the casting of Rachel McAdams. I love her and she did a good job in the film, but I’m just not sure if she was the right person to cast for the part. However, my doubts about this particular casting weren’t big enough to cloud my judgment about the rest of the film :P
That reassures me, as long as she doesn’t ruin it, it’s all good. I’m going to finish watching it this evening.
Let me know what you think when you’ve finished it! I’m curious that you watched it in two sittings – I wouldn’t have been able to take the suspense of the mystery in separate viewings :P
Loved it, completely. The humour was great and I was thrilled to see Rachel McAdams in it. I liked the way Holmes detailed his actions too, thought it’d get old but it didn’t. Looking forward to the next one hinted at at the end!
