Writing Thank You Notes

February 9th, 2010 | Categories: Life | 8 Comments

I’ve never really been one for writing and sending cards. Those who sent me Christmas cards this past holidays can attest to that, as I never got round to mailing cards back to those who were kind enough to send me one. However, several school and work commitments have required me to send thank you notes as a token of gratitude, so I’ve semi-fallen into the habit of writing out thank you notes to those that I, well, need to thank.

I went out and bought a box of thank you notes from Papyrus, my favorite card shop, the other day. I absolutely love the pale green and yellow colors and the dragonfly print on both the card and matching envelope. Not only that, but the slight touch of glitter on the dragonfly wings and scalloped edges really add a nice touch. I’m not typically one to gush about the beauty of a card but this particular box of thank you notes truly are gorgeous. It took me over half an hour to pick this one out because Papyrus’ selection was so beautiful!

Now that I have a beautiful set of thank you notes to use instead of having to run to my school’s bookstore for a mediocre one every time I need to write a message of gratitude, I sense that I’ll be a lot more excited to write out thank you notes in the future. Hopefully I won’t run out of occasions that require sending one!

I used to loooathe sending thank you cards. But having pretty ones always makes the process less painful. ;) I have cute Classic Winnie the Pooh ones.

Is it bad to say I don’t like spending a lot of money on paper from papyrus just so to give it to someone else? I am quite cheap, but I do tend to buy nice holiday hallmark cards. I never wrote thank you notes, but I never really had a reason to I guess.

I…have a habit of making my own cards (thank you, or birthday, or whatever), but I think if I were to send cards for work/school related commitments, I’d get store bought cards too. Making my own take too long, especially when they’re probably to people who glance at it and throw it out. I love the dragonflies tho — the cards are so simple, yet so elegant.

Homemade cards definitely have more of a personal touch than the prettiest store-bought one. But I am not artistic in any sense of the word, so I’m afraid my cards will always be purchased ones :P

I seldom write thank you cards because there is seldom a need to. I do write festival greeting cards though! I like to design and print my own if I’ve both the time and money.

Those cards look pretty. I like cards with simple and elegant designs because the recipient tend to focus more on the actual content.

I like cards best if there’s no message inside. That way I can personalize my card to the most of my ability even if it isn’t self-made. Usually the printed messages inside cards are corny and/or never something I’d say so it’s a little awkward to give those to someone!

I actually really like writing Thank You cards. I am obsessed with my handwriting, though. I’m silly like that. I write little novels in each of my cards. Haha!

    Those cards are so pretty!
