I don’t think my mother would go as far to smashing a CD that used foul language! She’d get mad, certainly, but I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t destroy it.

Oh, the trouble parents have with swear words! This is actually quite hilarious. :D A friend of mine (upper class English parents) had his South Park sound track smashed. Now I remember you said your brother likes SP. I can only imagine the outrage!

I only really swear when I get really angry. Still, I keep a lid on it when I’m around my mother. I once swore really badly and she overheard me and I didn’t hear the end of it for weeks!

I know! The Bird and the Bee is not a band I would worry about my child listening to :P Another song I put on the same CD is “Love Letter to Japan,” which she really likes. Maybe if I explained the same band sings “Love Letter to Japan” she would worry less about what music I listen to!

Heh, this could be a conversation between my mother and me! Of course, I’d end up replying “no” to the final question, because she’s a touch conservative, and what she doesn’t know can’t hurt her >:D Not that I’m known to swear all that much IRL, but yeah.

That is hilarious! My mom wouldn’t care – my brother (age 12) swears at CoD all the time and she doesn’t do anything. I always find certain language a little awkward when my parents are around, though.

I’ve never heard The Bird and the Bee, but sounds good :)

My mum doesn’t care too much if I listen to songs that swear, but I make a point of not playing them in the car. I don’t have many favorite songs that do swear, but I don’t purposely choose songs that don’t or anything. Like you said, freedom of expression.

I’m trying to think of songs I like that DO swear. Green Day, MCR…but they’re not my absolute favorites or anything :)
