I wish I had seen this movie :(
I’ve heard some pretty mixed reviews from my friends, but I’m glad you liked it! I’m really looking forward to seeing this.
Coincidentally, I saw Alice In Wonderland in the last 24 hours. Opinion was definitely divided on it! I enjoyed it, but was also disappointed by certain sections. I liked that Alice was 19, but I don’t think they had to stray so far from the original storyline (though I suspect I prefer the darkness of the new storyline).
I had crazy expectations about how pretty the setting would be, but I was a little disappointed, I think. But on the whole, I thought it was quite enjoyable.
I agree. I absolutely loved it.
I really liked it too. I think what most people are having issues with is that they’re expecting it to be the actual Alice stories retold. But if you can appreciate the movie as a continuation of what Carroll wrote, and as an interpretation of the world of Wonderland, then it’s a really lovely movie.
I think some also expected it to be a remake of the Disney version, and obviously it wasn’t. I’m actually quite glad that it wasn’t a retelling of the actual Alice stories as that has been done many times, you know? I also appreciated Burton’s vision and thought he continued the original stories quite well.
It’s the whole like/dislike that’s making me hold off on my planning to see it. I thought I’d be surprised by the changes in the story, but knowing about it in advance stopped that from being a factor. I love the look of the film.
I LOVED this movie too! {sorry I am way behind in my google reader} :)
