Stress Stress Stress
April 3rd, 2010 | Categories: School | 8 CommentsI don’t think I will survive this coming week. At least, I don’t think my GPA will.
I just have so much to do that I’m not even sure if it’s possible to get it all done. I’ve been stressing about the amount of work I have to get done all week, and it’s getting to the point where I think I’m starting to obsess over it. That’s so not healthy! (A friend of mine joked about me being perpetually stressed/worried throughout the entire semester because there’s always work to do, and he’s totally right.)
I’m not sure why, exactly, that I’m so stressed out about this week because it’s not like I’ve never been stressed out about school before. I think it’s just that I have so much due for each of my classes in the same week. Not to mention that it’s Easter and National Cherry Blossom Festival week. I don’t do much by the way of Easter, but a lot of kids go home for Easter weekend, so the group project I have due on Monday is looking pretty dicey at the moment. Also, it’s disheartening to stay indoors and work on research papers when all I really want to do is go outside and bask in the sunshine with the beautiful cherry blossoms. I don’t even think I’ll be able to go see the cherry blossoms this year, which is so upsetting because I was really looking forward to it.
Here’s a list all of the stuff I have due this week. I want to get the bulk of it done over the weekend, because I know that if I don’t I’ll just be freaking out even more than I already am during the week. Those marked with an asterisk means that it is a group project.
- Prepare a presentation and outline for a debate about negative political advertising (negative side)*
- Prepare a presentation and outline for a discussion about the changing Chinese perspective of U.S. power*
- Prepare a presentation and outline (in Chinese) about the actress Zhang Ziyi
- Write a 5-7 page analytical paper about how form expresses meaning in two of the fiction novels discussed in class
- Write an 8-10 page research paper about environmental degradation in China
- Script, shoot, and edit a 15-20 second PSA about the dangers of underage drinking*
That’s only what I have due this week. If I had to list everything that was due in the month of April, along with my work, internship, and extracurricular commitments, I’d be in the fetal position underneath my desk, rocking back and forth as I try desperately not to hyperventilate.
Summer can’t come soon enough.

Oh man, I know exactly how you feel. Don’t worry, by this time next week you’ll have some sense of sanity and you’ll get to finally relax! I wish you the best of luck this weekend trying to get everything done. :) Summer’s almost here!
I totally understand :( While I’ve never had as much work as you do (that’s totally insane – GOOD LUCK!) I’ve been feeling so frazzled lately. The week after (when everything is done) is great and relaxing though. Like Ruby said, it’s almost summer (thought summer feels YEARS away)…good luck with your work :)
All that is necessary to outline about Zhang Ziyi is that she is beautiful.
Good luck.
Oh my gosh you are definitely going to be busy. Good luck getting it all done. I’m sure you will be able to, though!
That is so sad you don’t think you will be able to go see the cherry blossoms. :(
Good luck on all your school work! Being constantly stressed/worried is the way I operate all semester long, so you’re not alone there. We’re the normal ones! :P

The thing to think about is that by obsessing about having too much to do you’re using up precious time so it’s best to relax and not worry. You’ve got a heavy load but reading through it there are a few things that will be more straight forward (you’ve picked the best actress to write about, for example) which is good. Best of luck :)
