Working Ahead
April 15th, 2010 | Categories: School | 8 CommentsBetween now and April 28, I have three final papers due, all of which are supposed to be 10 pages each, double-spaced. They are each about wildly different things:
- The first one is about Tiger Woods. I have to analyze his current PR predicament (and let’s face it, his PR strategies have sucked so far) and write a strategic plan that would help improve his image and bring him back on top of the golfing world and put his sex scandal behind him… no easy feat.
- The second one is an analysis of the communication models and theories used in Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. I need to discuss how these models/theories were effective and what, if anything, could have been done to make the campaign more effective.
- The third one is a creative writing assignment. It’s a prose piece. I am still figuring out the finer details, but I loosely based it off an incident in my life, although like most fictional pieces based on real life, it’s already become more fiction than non-fiction.
Needless to say, combined with my upcoming exams, I have my work cut out for me. However, I have surprised even myself by being able to work ahead! This time last year, I was suffering from a bad case of procrastination. So far, procrastination hasn’t kicked in yet. I’m halfway through my creative writing piece and my Tiger Woods paper, and I have some research compiled for my Campaign for Real Beauty paper. Can I get some applause, anyone?

i applaude you for reals… i can’t ever keep up with the end of the year exam…or mid term exams.. and combine that to working… i envy you…
Applause and a bouquet of flowers are most definitely deserved! Well done, Manda! Way to stay on top of things. I really need to take a cue from you at the moment because I know I’m going to be drowning under projects verrrry soon.
Great job getting your work done! Those assignments actually sound kind of fun so maybe that’s why you have found more motivation lately? Good luck getting everything finished!
Awesome job Manda! It does sound like those are considerably more interesting topics than most so that must help, but that’s still great of you to be that on top of things. I’m usually pretty good about it but I NEED to start doing that more myself. But it’s so hard to get motivated to do something I have flat-out no interest in!
Hehehe *applause* :D I really like the topics of your final papers. I think they’re very interesting! Goodluck with finishing up the essays and of course goodluck with your upcoming exams. Working ahead is definitely a smart thing to do :/ I should start with that too *gulp*
Definitely impressed here. I have a tonne of assignments that are due (or overdue…), and I haven’t really done much on them. I’m just so burnt out.
*golf clap* to go along with your tiger woods paper…lol
Good luck on all of your assignments! I hope that the procrastination bug will stay away!!
Ooh, those seem like interesting topics to write about (albeit hard — 10 pages is a lot!). Good luck with getting it all done. I should take a leaf out of your book and stop procrastinating, heh :P
