Calling All My WordPress Theme Savvy Friends; Help Needed!
July 9th, 2010 | Categories: Online | 4 CommentsI’ve had my current theme up since January 1. It’s a very nice theme and has everything that I want. Lately, though, I’m getting tired of looking at this theme and have been searching for a new theme in which to dress up my blog. The search has been rather difficult though, as I’m not a designer and my skills are pretty much limited to very minimal WordPress theme editing. I keep finding themes that have designs that I like but are limited in theme functions.
Recently, I found the most amazing theme ever. It’s perfect and I know that it is the absolute greatest theme I could use for my blog. However, functions-wise, it’s lacking the following:
- Threaded comments
- Links to “Previous” and “Next” entries at the bottom of the page
- There are also ad links embedded in the footer with some weird coded thing… I don’t know what the technical term is but hopefully this can be solved by viewing the source of the footer
I don’t think adding these functions in the theme is hard; it’s just that I am completely lacking in any sort of HTML/PHP/WordPress theme skills. So… any kind souls out there willing to take a look at the theme and help me out with adding the above functions? If so, please comment or send me an email at disalarming@gmail.com. I will lavish you with my eternal undying love and gratitude, with the promise of buying dinner if you happen to visit my city!

In regards to the ad in your footer, that is kind of an encrypted signature of sorts from the designer of the theme. There are usually parts of it spread throughout a theme for WP if someone has made the entire package. Some people look down on having the signatures, but others simply use it as a way to enforce credit. IDK.
I’d gladly take a look at the files. :) I love making my own WP themes now that I understand them enough. hahaha. I prefer making my own completely, by far! They can be tedious to get exactly how you want them, but in the end it’s worth it. :)
I always leave credit intact, but I what annoys me about the footer is that it’s not just the credit that’s encrypted, but also links to ad sites. But I’m not really sure what I can do about that. I managed to unencrypt the footer for my current theme and leave the credit intact, but remove the ad links. Not sure that is a feat I can repeat though :P
Thank you SO much! :D I will email you the files now.
I would help, but I don’t really have the time right now. =/ Besides, it looks like you’ve found someone! I hope she can help you out. :)
Looks like you found someone, but I’d be glad to help if anything else comes up!
