I’d Like My Eggs With…
August 14th, 2010 | Categories: Food, Question of the Week | 14 CommentsTaking a break from my recent Europe-themed posts to pose a question that I have pondered for a while:
Whilst I’ve been traveling around this month with different family and friends, I’ve noticed that there are many ways people eat eggs in the morning. I’m not talking about whether eggs are scrambled, poached, fried and whatnot; everyone knows about those differences. No, I noticed that people like to put different things on/with their eggs in the morning.
Salt, pepper, salt and pepper, jam/jelly, ketchup, cheese… I am sure there are many more, but those are just the ones that come to my head first. Personally, I like to put soy sauce on my eggs. I’ve always thought that was normal, but apparently that’s considered weird to non-Chinese heritage folk…?
Question of the Week: What do you like to put on your eggs?

I like my eggs various ways on different days (oooh, unintentional rhyme!) Anyway, when I have them scrambled, its always with cheese: cheddar, fetta, whatever’s available. Sunny-side up is always with soy sauce and pepper, I’m Asian too. Boiled is always with pepper and salt :)
Usually just pepper and salt, occasionally cheese, and when I have it, I love my eggs with bacon or ham :D
And here I thought putting ketchup on eggs was weird! (My mom does that and we all make fun of her. :P) But I’ve never heard of putting soy sauce on them, and that’s definitely a bit unusual. :P
Hope you’re enjoying your travels, dude! :D
I love soy sauce with my eggs too (I guess it’s a Chinese thing?), but if I can’t have that, I’ll settle for salt & pepper or some ketchup.
I like lots and lots of pepper. I find ketchup on eggs absolutely revolting, but then again, I find ketchup in general absolutely revolting and I refuse to eat it. :P I also like putting mustard in (not on) scrambled eggs – it makes them more bearable to me, since I don’t like scrambled eggs and kinda have egg issues in general.
Soy sauce is a new one to me, though!
I don’t put anything on my eggs, I don’t know anyone who does. I must live a very boring existence :P
Soy sauce? I’ve never heard of that before. I’ve always put ketchup on my eggs, so it’s nice to know that it’s not considered too unusual. And salt and pepper, of course.
Salt and pepper for me! Maybe a little oyster sauce if I’m in an adventurous mood. :)
I like ketchup on scrambled eggs. I also unintentionally like scrambled eggs + maple syrup — I’ve known people to freak out when their syrup touches their eggs, but I don’t mind.
I am one of those people that are terrified of my scrambled eggs touching my maple syrup. Maple syrup tainted eggs are GROSS.
Soy sauce?! I have never heard that one before. I like soy sauce on my bread…maybe I will try it on my eggs one day. I prefer my eggs to be hard (no runny yolk AT ALL) and I like ketchup and/or franks red hot sauce on them. I have to admit that I won’t eat them plain, ever. :D
I work at a breakfast restaurant and it is really amazing how many different ways people enjoy their eggs. There are also people who like pancakes and eggs layered on top of each other. We have many people who put them on toast as well.
Pepper and ketchup, always :D I also like them best with bacon, or in a skillet with home fries, and I pretty much always eat them scrambled.
Soy sauce sounds fairly normal, though, even though I’m not Asian I’ve certainly heard of it before. I’m not so sure if I’d like it, I’ve always had terrible run-ins with overly-sauced meats so soy sauce has never gotten a chance to appeal to me.
I can’t imagine having soy sauce on eggs! Maybe I should try it.
I’m generally boring and have my eggs plain, though often they’ll be part of a bigger meal. Otherwise I’ve had them with cheese and if there’s pasta, pepper.
I LOVE EGGS. *cough* Sorry, I just really like eggs and eat them daily so this is like my favorite topic ever. I’ve never done the soy sauce thing, surprisingly. My favorite type of eggs is eggs benedict, aka with hollandaise sauce, aka AWESOME. My daily way of eating them is with ketchup or salsa if we have it. And cheese if we have it. Omg eggs!
