Music Downloading Spree
November 18th, 2010 | Categories: Entertainment, Online, Question of the Week | 6 CommentsFact: Google signed some sort of deal that allows every Internet user in China to download music for free off the Google website.
Fact: I am an Internet user in China who is always keen to expand my iTunes collection.
Fact: I am also someone who has been out of the loop in the pop culture scene ever since going abroad.
Fact: I have a wide-ranging taste in music and am willing to give anything a try, except rap.
Question of the Week: What are some of your favorite songs? Recently? All-time? What bands or artists would you recommend for me to check out, new or old?

Music for free? That’s awesome!
Now to narrow this down…
My favourite songs recently have been Rihanna’s Only Girl In The World and The Wanted’s All Time Low (new Brit band). If you like Brit pop, Pixie Lott and The Saturdays are possibilities (general pop), Little Boots for electronic, and Robbie Williams has been going strong for over a decade.
I’d also recommend giving Bruno Mars a listen although a couple of his collaborations feature rap, I think his current one is Just The Way You Are. Katy Perry’s newest songs are good, and Edward Maya’s Stereo Love is pretty infectious.
I totally recommend Lady Antebellum – they made me love Country music!
Stars is my all time favorite band. I’m also been on a kick of listening to Alkaline Trio, another old favorite. My current favorite band is Sleigh Bells. I also like We Are Scientists. And Kid Cudi just put out a new album that I mostly like. LCD Soundsystem is good. Justin Bieber obviously.
I would probably listen to my suggestions before actually downloading them, haha. I have way eclectic tastes.
Miss Montreal is an awesome (and Dutch based) band :D They have this awesome song called: Being Alone At Christmas xD
I might have a list of Mandarin/Cantonese ones I like, I’m pretty sure you’d have better access to those though. ;)
Hit me up with that list! I’ve gotten super into Chinese music lately, for obvious reasons.
