How Am I STILL Not 21?!
August 20th, 2011 | Categories: Friends, Life | 6 CommentsEven though my 21st birthday is only a few days away, I’ve never been so upset that I’m not yet 21. All my friends are out at the bars and clubs and I’m stuck home alone on a Saturday night because I can’t get into the places they’re at. Thank GOD this is my last weekend as a 20-year-old because this seriously blows.
Oh 21st birthday, please hurry up and arrive before I have no social life to speak of…! (I kid. Well, kind of. I miss being able to go out and have wild nights, dammit! I never had this age problem in China!)
Oh Manda, don’t rush it! I know you’re anxious to be out and living your life, but trust me – you’re only 20 once in your life. When you turn 22, you’ll realise there’s a HUGE difference between 22 and 21 – 21 it feels like you’re on top of the world but at 22 you think ‘holy sh*t, my life is basically over’.
I know you’re excited, but love your youth!
I only care about 21 because once I’m 21 I can legally drink and go to bars in the US :P It’s not the actual aging that matters to me, it’s the fact that I can FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY go out with friends and have a good time!
This is more in response to Elaine’s comment above me… but when I turned 23, I TOTALLY had that crisis. 22, nothing. But 23, I kind of freaked out a bit. 23 is a scary age for some reason.
If I remember right, don’t we have the same birthday? :P
Your time will come! It sucks having a late birthday, I know. Just be glad you didn’t have to celebrate your 21st with complete strangers in a foreign country where the ‘legal’ drinking age is 18 like I did. It was still a LOT of fun, but I’m sad I never got my American-style 21st birthday. Oh well.
[...] finally [...]
Ha! Been there, but in Canada you only have to wait until you’re 18 :)
