Ipsy: The Great Escape (March 2013)

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service. For $10/month, members get deluxe samples and full-sized products along with a tote bag to keep all the items in. Each month’s tote design depends on that month’s theme.

March’s theme was The Great Escape. I’ve discussed before how I ditched Birchbox for Ipsy, but unfortunately March’s bag isn’t Ipsy’s best effort. It’s still a fairly good bag, but it’s more reminiscent of past Birchboxes I’ve received than the usual awesomeness Ipsy delivers. For previous Ipsy boxes I’ve received, check out this tag.

Ipsy March 2013

  • Yaby: Eyeshadow Refill in “Sand Dune” and “So Vein”
Whether you want to make a dramatic statement or just add a veil of color to your eyes, the yaby eyeshadow refills are extremely easy to work with. Can be used wet or dry and the smooth texture allows blending with ease.
I would gripe about how this is yet another instance where Ipsy’s sent sample eyeshadows without any way for me to store them, but another item in this bag actually solves that dilemma! At any rate, these look to be like fairly nice matte shadows. I’m a little skeptical at how I’ll pull off that green, but St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner…
  • GlamRX: Mini Freestyle Palette
The GlamRX Mini Freestyle Palette was made exclusively for ipsy Glam Bag subscribers. The magnetic base is the perfect spot to store pan-only eyeshadows (2 of which are included in this Glam Bag!), blushes & bronzers, or whatever you need for perfect for quick touch ups on the go!
I would have had no use for this palette if I didn’t have the loose shadows in this bag, October’s bag and February’s bag. So, this will be put to good use!
  • Juice Beauty: Hydrating Mist
Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist tones, hydrates, and refreshes your face and hair while on the go, anytime of the day. Hydrate with the refreshing blends of organic juices for a fresh, radiant complexion.
I love this (and I believe it’s in full size!) Hydrating mists are awesome. Even though the winter weather months are fading away, I’m definitely going to be using this when I’m on my long haul flights to Taiwan next month. The rose scent smells really pretty and there’s a good mix of good-for-your-skin ingredients that I’m happy with.
  • La Fresh: Travel Lite Makeup Remover
La Fresh® Travel Lite® portable towlette wipes are perfect for jetsetters, go-getters, outdoor enthusiasts and multi-taskers everywhere. Towlette packets are small in size, designed for practicality and are easy to apply discreetly.
I was just thinking I needed to replenish the stash of makeup wipes in my small cosmetics bag in my everyday purse. How handy that Ipsy seemed to sense this and send me some :P

I think Ipsy and Birchbox has its bad months and good months, but Ipsy has been pretty good. I am thinking about resubscribing to Ipsy. I didn’t like this month’s judging from what everyone has received, but the bag is cute!
